Preparing the Dough
  1. Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (180°C) and lining your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
  3. Gradually add the flour and a pinch of salt to the butter-sugar mixture. Mix until the dough comes together and forms a cohesive ball. Do not overmix; just combine the ingredients.
Shaping and Baking
  1. Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the shortbread dough to about 1/4-inch (0.6 cm) thickness.
